Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
Important: Take care when handling the MAF. DO NOT dent, puncture, or otherwise damage the honey well located at the air inlet end of the MAF. DO NOT touch the sensing elements or allow anything, including solvents and lubricants,
to come in contact with them. A small amount of GM Lubricant P/N 99855406 may be used on the air duct only to aid in installation. DO NOT drop or roughly handle the MAF.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly retaining nut.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly retaining bolt .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly from the bracket.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the air cleaner assembly to the air cleaner assembly mounting bracket .
Tighten
Tighten the air cleaner assembly attaching bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the outlet air duct assembly on to the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
- Tighten the clamps on both the inlet and outlet duct of the air cleaner assembly .
- Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
