Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove both drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the cooling layer. Refer to Cooling Layer Removal .
  4. Remove the crankshaft (damper) pulley bolt and washers from the crankshaft.
  5. Inspect the crankshaft (damper) pulley for excessive wear, damage or rubber crack. If the crankshaft (damper) pulley shows signs of wear, damage or rubber crack, replace the crankcase balancer.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the crankshaft (damper) pulley to the crankshaft.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the crankshaft (damper) pulley bolt and washer.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft (damper) pulley bolt and washer to 200 N·m (148 lb ft).

  5. Install the drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  6. Connect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  7. Install the cooling layer. Refer to Cooling Layer Removal .
