Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the axle shaft from the axle housing. Refer to Front Axle Shaft Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the steering linkage from the steering knuckle.

    3. Object Number: 1360583 Size: SH
  3. Remove the ball joint nuts.

    4. Object Number: 1360586 Size: SH
  4. Remove the steering knuckle from the axle housing.

    5. Object Number: 1360588 Size: SH
  5. Remove the snap ring from the lower ball joint.

    6. Object Number: 1360587 Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1360587 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle.

    2. Object Number: 1360588 Size: SH
  2. Install the snap ring to the lower ball joint.

    3. Object Number: 1360586 Size: SH
  3. Install the steering knuckle to the axle housing.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1360583 Size: SH
  4. Install the ball joint nuts.

    5. Tighten

    1. Tighten the lower ball joint nut to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the upper ball joint nut to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).
    3. Retighten the lower ball joint nut to 203 N·m (150 lb ft).
  5. Install the steering linkage to the steering knuckle.
  6. Install the axle shaft to the axle housing. Refer to Front Axle Shaft Replacement .
