    • J 39529 Wiper Transmission Installer

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 497992  Size: SH
  1. Remove the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
  2. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor.

  4. Object Number: 497998  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 4 bolts retaining the wiper system drive module to the plenum.

  6. Object Number: 498000  Size: SH
  7. Remove the wiper system drive module from the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 306506  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the drive link from the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232 .

  10. Object Number: 498003  Size: SH
  11. Remove the 4 pivot housing screws.
  12. Remove the wiper transmission from the wiper drive system module.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 498003  Size: SH
  1. Position the wiper drive system to the wiper transmission and install the 4 screws.
  2. Apply Loctite® Blue, GM P/N 12345382 or (Canadian P/N 10953489), or equivalent to the pivot housing screws.

    Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

    Important: If the 5 N·m (44 lb in) minimum torque is not achieved or the plastic pivot housing is damaged or cracked, then the wiper transmission must be replaced at this time.

  3. Replace the wiper transmission.

  4. Object Number: 306515  Size: SH
  5. Connect the drive link onto the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39529 .

  6. Object Number: 498000  Size: SH
  7. Install the wiper drive system module on the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 497998  Size: SH
  9. Install the 4 retaining bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  11. Connect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
  12. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  13. Install the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
  14. Operate the wipers and inspect for proper operation.
