Tools Required

    • J 8614-01 Flange and Pulley Holding Tool
    • J 37668-A Output Shaft Seal Installer

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the transfer case shield. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 1403903 Size: SH
  3. Using the J 8614-01 , remove the input flange nut and front input flange.

    4. Notice: Refer to Transfer Case Seal Removal Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Remove the input seal.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1456818 Size: SH
  1. Using the J 37668-A , install the input seal in the transfer case.

    2. Object Number: 1456821 Size: SH
  2. Install the input flange.
  3. Install the J 8614-01 to the input flange for support.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the front input flange nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the front input flange nut to 251 N·m (185 lb ft).

  5. Install the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement .
  6. Fill the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Fluid Replacement .
  7. Install the transfer case shield. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
