Makes 🢒 GMC_Truck 🢒 2008 🢒 TopKick C-Series (Conventional) C4/C5 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Controls and Fuel - 7.8L (LF8) 🢒 Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  2. Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

    4. Object Number: 1400956 Size: SH
  4. Remove the fuel rail pressure sensor electrical connector (5).
  5. Remove the air breather hose (6) from the cylinder head cover.
  6. Remove the fuel injection pipes  (2, 3).
  7. Remove the fuel leak-off pipe (4) from the fuel rail.
  8. Remove the 2 nuts and bolts and the fuel rail (1) from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the fuel rail (1) to the intake manifold. Hand-tighten the nuts and bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Install the fuel leak-off pipe (4) to the fuel rail.
  3. Install the injection pipes (2, 3) to the fuel rail.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the sleeve nuts to 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  4. Install a new gasket to the eye bolt.
  5. Install a new eye bolt to the fuel rail.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Connect the fuel rail pressure sensor electrical connector (5).
  7. Install the air breather hose (6) to the cylinder head cover.
  8. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
