Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to
Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
- Remove the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR), if equipped. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
- Remove the bolts that retain the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
- Remove the instrument panel compartment from the instrument panel.
- Press the release buttons on the instrument panel assist handle retainers (2).
Pull the assist handle (1) from the instrument panel.
- Remove the assist handle from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the instrument panel assist handle (1) to the vehicle.
- Position the instrument panel assist handle into the retainers (2).
2.1. | Push the instrument panel assist handle down in order to engage the retainers. |
2.2. | Verify that the instrument panel assist handle locks into place. |
- Install the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts that retain the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR). Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
- Install the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to
Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
