J 42640 Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin

1. Install the J 42640 in the steering column lower access hole.



2. Remove the intermediate steering shaft seal retaining nuts.



3. Pull seal back to access the intermediate shaft bolt.
4. Remove the lower bolt from the intermediate shaft upper joint.
5. Remove the intermediate steering shaft seal.

1. Install the intermediate steering shaft seal to the intermediate steering shaft.
2. Install the intermediate shaft to the intermediate shaft joint.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Important: The intermediate shaft retaining bolt contains an epoxy patch. When the intermediate shaft retaining bolt is removed it must be replaced or apply threadlocker 272 GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 1093488) or equivalent to the threads of the bolt.

3. Install the intermediate shaft joint bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).




4. Install the intermediate shaft seal to the cowl.
5. Install the intermediate shaft seal retaining nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).




6. Remove the J 42640 from the steering column lower access hole.
