    • J 42137 Cam Orientation Plate Adapter

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 330127  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Important: Let the SIR coil hang freely after removal.

  3. Remove the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .
  4. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
  5. Remove the bearing retainer (1) from the steering shaft assembly.
  6. Discard the bearing retainer.
  7. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 from the steering shaft assembly.

  9. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:
  10. 7.1. The shaft lock shield assembly (5)
    7.2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (4)
    7.3. The upper bearing spring (3)
    7.4. The upper bearing inner race seat (2)
    7.5. The inner race (1)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 330130  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the lower brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with GM P/N 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529).
  2. Lubricate the inner race with GM P/N 12345718 (Canadian P/N 10953516)
  3. Install the following parts onto the steering shaft assembly:
  4. 3.1. The inner race (1)
    3.2. The upper bearing inner race seat (2)
    3.3. The upper bearing spring (3)
    3.4. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (4)
    3.5. The shaft lock shield assembly (5)

  5. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR and J 42137 .
  6. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft assembly.
  7. Firmly seat the bearing retainer (1) into the groove on the steering shaft assembly.
  8. Remove J 23653-SIR and J 42137 from the steering shaft assembly.
  9. Caution: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.

  10. Install the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
