Removal Procedure

Caution: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector(s) (1) from the appropriate ECT sensor (s).

  3. Object Number: 1864636  Size: SH
  4. Remove the appropriate ECT sensor(s) (1).

Installation Procedure

Caution: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. If installing the old sensor(s), coat the threads with sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the appropriate ECT sensor(s) (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the sensor(s) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector(s) (1) to the appropriate ECT sensor(s).
  6. Fill the cooling system, if necessary. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  7. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement.
