J 44643 Flywheel Holding Tool

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Remove the starter motor bolts. Reposition the starter aside. The wiring to the starter does not require removal.



3. Install J 44643 in order to hold the flywheel.
4. Remove the lower fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement.



5. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
6. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
7. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
8. If required, clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection.

1. Lubricate the crankshaft balancer internal hub with clean engine oil.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer on the crankshaft.
3. Lubricate the crankshaft balancer bolt with clean engine oil.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

4. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft) plus 105 degrees.




5. Remove J 44643 .



6. Position the starter motor.
7. Install the starter motor bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 78 N·m (58 lb ft).

8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
9. Install the lower fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement.
10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
