Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
  2. Remove the upper oil pan. Refer to Upper Oil Pan Replacement.
  3. Caution: Do not use an impact driver to remove or install the oil pump driven gear nut. Use of an impact driver may shear the oil pump drive gear pin in the crankshaft.

  4. While holding the secondary oil pump shaft with a hex driver, remove the oil pump driven gear nut.

  5. Object Number: 738905  Size: SH
  6. Remove the oil pump driven gear.

  7. Object Number: 738904  Size: SH

    Note: DO NOT remove the reluctor from the oil pump drive gear. The reluctor is timed to the gear and once removed the correct timing will be lost.

  8. Remove the oil pump drive gear and crankshaft sensor reluctor.

  9. Object Number: 739316  Size: SH
  10. Remove the camshaft reluctor screws.
  11. Remove the camshaft reluctor.
  12. Clean and Inspect the camshaft reluctor for damage. Replace the reluctor if damage is found.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 739316  Size: SH
  1. Position the camshaft reluctor to the camshaft gear.
  2. Install the camshaft reluctor bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Note: Do not damage the teeth on the reluctor.

  4. Install the oil pump drive gear and reluctor to the crankshaft.

  5. Object Number: 738905  Size: SH
  6. Install the oil pump driven gear.

  7. Object Number: 776631  Size: SH
  8. While holding the secondary oil pump shaft with a hex driver, install the oil pump driven gear nut.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  10. Install the upper oil pan. Refer to Upper Oil Pan Replacement.
  11. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
