J 42116 Bushing Remover and Installer
Removal Procedure
Note: When replacing the center bushing, replace the center bushing of the opposite equalizing beam.
- Remove the equalizing beam from the vehicle. Refer to
Equalizing Beam Replacement.
Caution: Under no circumstances is a cutting torch, chisel, or tools that would damage the bore, to be used in removing the equalizing beam bushings. Damage by a torch or tools could reduce the strength
of the bushing area and cause damage to the equalizing beam.
- Remove the bushing, using the
J 42116 .
- Press out the bushing using a driver or arbor press. Exert force on the bushing outer sleeve.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new bushing using the
J 42116 .
- Press the bushing into place. Exert force on the bushing outer sleeve until the outer sleeve extends an equal distance through the beam at both sides.
- Install the equalizing beam.
- Remove the blocks from the wheels.
