Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Inlet Hose Replacement LG4/LG5/LF6/LF8

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Siphon the fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.

  3. Object Number: 798031  Size: SH
  4. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the reservoir.

  5. Object Number: 826181  Size: SH
  6. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the power steering gear.
  7. Remove the hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: The inlet and outlet hoses must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort the inlet or outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

  1. Route the hose in the same position the hose occupied prior to removal.
  2. Smoothly route the hose in order to avoid sharp bends and kinking.

  3. Object Number: 826181  Size: SH
  4. Install the reservoir inlet hose to the power steering gear.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 798031  Size: SH
  6. Install the reservoir inlet hose to the reservoir.
  7. Position the clamp at the end of the hose.

    Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 5 N·m (45 lb in).

  8. Check the power steering fluid level. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
  9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Inlet Hose Replacement L18, LB7, LLY and LMM

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not start the vehicle with any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses disconnected. When disconnected, plug or cap all openings of components. Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system.

  1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Siphon the fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.

  3. Object Number: 798031  Size: SH
  4. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the reservoir.

  5. Object Number: 826204  Size: SH
  6. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the power brake booster if equipped with JE3.

  7. Object Number: 826181  Size: SH
  8. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the steering gear if equipped with JE4.
  9. Remove the hose from the vehicle.

  8. Install the reservoir inlet hose to the reservoir.
  9. Position the clamp at the end of the hose.

    Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 5 N·m (45 lb in).

  10. Check the power steering fluid level. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
  11. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
