Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the instrument panel cluster (IPC).

Does the IPC perform the displays test?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the IPC.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the IPC and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the IPC and the ground circuit of the IPC.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open or the high resistance in the IPC ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open, the short to ground or the high resistance in the ignition 1 voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
