Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Lower Left Side LBZ, LLY

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1335926 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .
  2. Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  3. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  4. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  5. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  6. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.
  7. If required, clean and inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection - Lower .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1335926 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  3. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1411029 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts in the sequence shown.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  6. Install the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .

Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Lower Left Side LMM

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1728393 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .
  2. Remove the glow plug harness from the lower valve cover.
  3. Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  4. Remove the fuel injectors return hose clamp at the left rear of engine (1).
  5. Remove the fuel feed and return line clamp bolt.
  6. Remove the engine harness bracket from the rear of the left ower valve cover.

  7. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  8. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  9. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  10. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1335926 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  3. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1411029 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the engine harness bracket to the rear of the engine.
  6. Install the fuel feed and retrurn line clamp bolt.

    7. Object Number: 1728393 Size: SH
  7. Install the fuel injector return hose clamp at the left rear of engine (1).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  9. Install the glow plug harness to the lower valve cover.
  10. Install the upper left valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Left Side .
