Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement LMM

1. Remove the exhaust particulate filter rear cooler pipe. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Rear Cooler Pipe Replacement .
2. Remove the exhaust temperature sensors. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 and Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
3. Remove the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipe. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Pipe Replacement .
4. Remove the catalytic converter to particulate filter nuts (1).
5. Remove the particulate filter hangers from the insulators.
6. Remove and discard the exhaust particulate filter gasket (2).

1. Install a NEW gasket (2) onto the particulate filter studs.
2. Install the particulate filter hangers to the insulators.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the catalytic converter to particulate filter nuts (1) .

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

4. Install the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipe. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Pipe Replacement .
5. Install the exhaust temperature sensors. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 and Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
6. Install the exhaust particulate filter rear cooler pipe. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Rear Cooler Pipe Replacement .
7. Using a scan tool, perform the DPF Reset For Replace DPF.

Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement With LF8

1. Remove the intermediate pipe nuts (3) and separate the intermediate pipe from the front pipe (1).
2. Discard the intermediate pipe gasket (2). Do not reuse it.



3. Remove the exhaust particulate filter bracket nuts (1,3).
4. Remove the exhaust particulate filter (5) from the vehicle.
5. Transfer any parts as needed.

1. Position the exhaust particulate filter brackets (2,4) to the vehicle frame.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the exhaust particulate filter bracket nuts (1,3).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).




3. Install a new intermediate pipe gasket (2) and align the front pipe (1) to the intermediate pipe.
4. Install the intermediate pipe nuts (3).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
