Change Engine Oil: The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the change engine oil indicator when the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil should be changed. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .

Change Fuel Filter: Refer to Fuel System Description

Charge: Refer to Charging System Description and Operation

Check Gages: The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the check gages indicator as determined by the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM). The ECM/PCM monitors the engine coolant temperature sensor and the engine oil pressure sensor. When the ECM/PCM detects that the engine coolant temperature is higher than normal or the engine oil pressure is lower than normal, the ECM/PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination.

Diesel Particulate Filter: The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the diesel particulate filter warning indicator when the diesel particulate filter (DPF) needs regeneration. The indicator will illuminate yellow when regeneration is required. If the DPF indicator turns red, the ECM will also request illumination of the MIL indicator. During regeneration, the ECM will request illumination of a separate green DPF indicator.
