This PI was updated to advise dealers there will be a new calibration to address U0106. Please discard PIP4143.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The customer concern may be an intermittent SES light with a Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) loss of communication diagnostic trouble code U0106.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Complete the current SI diagnostics for any trouble code or symptom found. If you have encountered a vehicle with DTC U0106, and the diagnostics are inconclusive, please do not replace the GPCM.
Engineering has investigated vehicles setting DTC U0106.
If DTC U0106 is set with multiple other trouble codes, evaluate the other codes, and make repairs as necessary.
At this time there is no repair for intermittent or false DTC U0106. Please clear the DTC and return the vehicle to the customer.
U0106 has been investigated and engineering is in the process of updating the GPCM/ECM calibrations.
This PI will be updated when the new calibration is available.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
