Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- If equipped, disconnect the mass airflow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the air cleaner bellow from the air cleaner assembly.
- If equipped, disconnect the filter minder hose from port and retainer. Position the hose out of the way.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly retaining nut.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly retaining bolt.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly from the bracket.
Caution: DO NOT remove any constant tension clamp retaining a bellow to an air cleaner elbow. Once a constant tension clamp is removed, the integrity of the clamp is damaged. The sealing joint between a bellow and the air cleaner bellow should not be broken. Once this joint is broken, the air cleaner duct assembly must be replaced.
Caution: Handle the MAF/IAT sensor carefully. Do not drop the MAF/IAT sensor. Do not damage the screen located at the air inlet end of the MAF/IAT. Do not touch the sensing elements. Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements. Use a small amount of SPO P/N 12345884 lubricant or the soap based equivalent in order to aid in the installation.
Installation Procedure
- Install the air cleaner assembly to the air cleaner assembly mounting bracket.
- Install the inlet air duct assembly on to the air cleaner assembly.
- Tighten the clamps on both the inlet and outlet duct of the air cleaner assembly.
- If equipped, connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
- If equipped, connect the filter minder hose and position the hose into the retainer.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (4 lb ft).
