Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Place a suitable support under the equalizing beam.
  4. Remove the rear spring travel limiting link from the suspension assembly. Refer to Rear Spring Travel Limiting Link Replacement.

Rear Shock Lower Nut (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
Remove the lower shock nuts with the washers and insulators.

Tighten
108 N·m (80 lb ft)

Rear Bolster Spring Nut (Qty: 16)

Tip
Remove the all of the bolster spring nuts so the equalizing beam can be separated from the spring bracket.

Tighten
129 N·m (95 lb ft)

Rear Bolster Spring (Qty: 4)

Important: The rear bolster springs must be replaced in pairs.

Tip

  1. Lower the equalizing beam to allow the bolster spring studs to clear the mounting holes.
  2. Replace the bolster springs in pairs.
