J 42116 Bushing Remover and Installer

Note: When replacing the center bushing, replace the center bushing of the opposite equalizing beam.

1. Remove the equalizing beam from the vehicle. Refer to Equalizing Beam Replacement.

Caution: Under no circumstances is a cutting torch, chisel, or tools that would damage the bore, to be used in removing the equalizing beam bushings. Damage by a torch or tools could reduce the strength of the bushing area and cause damage to the equalizing beam.

2. Remove the bushing, using the J 42116 .
3. Press out the bushing using a driver or arbor press. Exert force on the bushing outer sleeve.

1. Install the new bushing using the J 42116 .
2. Press the bushing into place. Exert force on the bushing outer sleeve until the outer sleeve extends an equal distance through the beam at both sides.
3. Install the equalizing beam.
4. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
