Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement.
  2. Remove the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR), if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement.
  3. Remove the bolts that retain the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
  4. Remove the instrument panel compartment from the instrument panel.

    5. Object Number: 328131 Size: SH
  5. Press the release buttons on the instrument panel assist handle retainers (2).

    6. Pull the assist handle (1) from the instrument panel.

  6. Remove the assist handle from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 328131 Size: SH
  1. Install the instrument panel assist handle (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Position the instrument panel assist handle into the retainers (2).
    3. 2.1. Push the instrument panel assist handle down in order to engage the retainers.
    2.2. Verify that the instrument panel assist handle locks into place.
  3. Install the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the bolts that retain the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  5. Install the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR). Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement.
  6. Install the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement.
