Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement L18 with C4500, C5500
Removal Procedure
- Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley captive washer and retaining nut.
Notice: Do not hammer the pulley off the shaft. The pulley or the pump
may be damaged.
- Use a suitable puller in order to remove the pulley.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering pump pulley.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the pulley captive washer and retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the pulley nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt on the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement LB7, LLY and LMM
Removal Procedure
- Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement for the 8.1L engine.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley captive washer and retaining nut.
Caution: Do not hammer the pulley off the shaft. The pulley or the pump may be damaged.
- Use a suitable puller in order to remove the pulley.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering pump pulley.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the pulley captive washer and retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the pulley nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt on the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement for the 8.1L engine.
