Caution: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution in the Preface section.
- Clean the area surrounding the reservoir cap.
- Remove the reservoir cap.
- Inspect the fluid level at regular intervals.
3.1. | If the fluid Is cold, perform the following procedure: |
3.1.1. | Remove the reservoir cap. |
3.1.2. | Inspect the fluid level. |
3.1.3. | Ensure that the fluid level is between the bottom of the COLD/FULL mark. |
3.2. | If the fluid Is hot, perform the following procedure: |
3.2.1. | Run the engine until the fluid reaches about 80°C (170°F). |
3.2.2. | Turn the engine OFF. |
3.2.3. | Remove the reservoir cap. |
3.2.4. | Inspect the fluid level. |
3.2.5. | Ensure that the fluid level is between the HOT/FULL and the COLD/FULL marks. |
Note: Check the label on the reservoir to insure the proper fluid is used.
- If the fluid level is low, add fluid to the proper level. Refer to
Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
- Install the reservoir cap.
- When checking the fluid level after servicing the steering system, bleed the air from the system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
