Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement C3500HD

Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Block the vehicle's rear wheels.
  3. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with suitable safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Object Number: 157007  Size: SH
  5. Loosen the lower nut at the stabilizer shaft.
  6. Remove the following components connecting the stabilizer shaft to the front axle:
  7. • The nut
    • The washers
    • The insulators
  8. Pivot the stabilizer shaft out of the way to allow access to the bracket.
  9. Remove the following components from the front axle:
  10. 7.1. The nuts
    7.2. The washers
    7.3. The insulator
  11. Remove the bracket from the front axle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket to the front axle.
  2. Install the following components to the front axle stabilizer bracket:
  3. 2.1. The insulator
    2.2. The washers
    2.3. The nuts

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  4. Align the stabilizer shaft stud with the stabilizer bracket hole.
  5. Install the following components:
  6. Important: Install the shaft mounting stud from the outside of the bracket.

    4.1. The insulators
    4.2. The washers
    4.3. The nut

    Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft nut to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
