Intermittent Battery Draw - keywords crank dead discharge drain electrical no start

Models:2003-2006 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV
2003-2006 GMC Yukon Denali and Denali XL



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may state that their battery goes dead at times. The battery may go dead overnight or it may only occur once a month. After performing normal diagnosis and a parasitic load test and a concern can't be found. Please check the following item below.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Listed below are some of the most common concerns for intermittent battery drains

  1. Sticking power seat or lumbar switches
  2. Shorted seat wiring in the drivers or passengers seat.
  3. AC relay sticking on at times.
  4. Rear Blower Motor Control Module (Bulletin: 04-01-39-009)
  5. Campaign: 02066 was not performed on vehicles that required the recall. (2003 Vehicles Only)
  6. All aftermarket items added to the vehicle (Including Low Jac and DVD systems)

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
