The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some technicians may find that there is no sound from the rear speakers after the center console wiring harness has been replaced. During installation the harness will appear to have an extra connector which is not used. This is the connector for the RSA (Rear Seat Audio).
The center console wiring harness is the same for vehicles equipped with or without RSA (RPO UK6). When a center console wiring harness is replaced on a vehicle NOT equipped with RSA, 5 pairs of wires for the RSA connector must be spliced together for the system to function correctly. Use the following chart to help in splicing the pairs:
Color | Circuit # | Wires to splice together |
---|---|---|
Brown | 599 | B6 to B8 |
Dark Green/White | 1547 | A6 to A8 |
Dark Blue | 546 | B7 to B9 |
Black | 1946 | A7 to A9 |
Bare | 2099 | A5 to B5 |
Note: The wires being spliced together will be the same color.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
