The body control module (BCM) monitors the window UP/DOWN command from the driver door switch (DDS). When the rear window UP or DOWN command is received, the BCM sends a signal to the appropriate rear window switch. The rear window switches continuously monitor the up and down signal circuits, if no function is being commanded, the signal voltage is at approximately B+ voltage. If the UP or DOWN function is commanded, the BCM signal voltage drops approximately 0.5 volts and the appropriate rear window switch will then command the window in the UP or DOWN direction.

Power Windows Description and Operation
Ignition ON, command the each rear window UP and DOWN using the window switches on the driver master control and each rear door window switch. Each rear window should perform the UP and DOWN functions from each switch.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
Important: Check the lockout switch on the driver door switch and verify the rear window switches are enabled.
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to ground or open/high resistance on either control circuit. If the circuits test normal, replace the rear window switch. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test for a short to voltage on either control circuit. If the circuits test normal, replace the rear window switch. |
⇒ | If it does not perform as specified, replace the window motor. |
