The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The condition described in this PI may occur on low mileage vehicles, and has possibly occurred since the vehicle was new.
The condition may be overheating or a engine that runs hotter then normal. The customer concern may also be a cooling system gurgling or bubbling noise.
Complete the current SI diagnostics for any symptoms or trouble codes found. Use the current SI procedures for Draining and Filling Cooling System to verify the system is filled and purged of air. If the SI diagnostics are inconclusive, and a customer concern of running hot, overheating, or a cooling system gurgling noise has been verified, remove the water pump and inspect for a restricted cooling system passage. If the engine block passages are restricted, the engine will need to be replaced. If the engine block passages are not restricted, continue with the current SI repair procedures for overheating.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
