The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a broken rear center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) applique after using an automatic carwash. This may be due to poor sonic welds that allow the applique and housing to become loose and seperate.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To repair the concern: Install a new upper liftgate CHMSL Applique

  1. Remove the damaged rear CHMSL applique. Refer to document Id: #1688546 in SI2000.
  2. Install new applique
  3. Verify proper operation of lift glass and lift gate.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
