The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
If the transfer case shift control module is replaced, the transfer case shift control module reprogramming procedure must be performed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
If the transfer case shift control module needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for transfer case shift control module programming or reprogramming:
• | The battery is fully charged. |
• | The ignition switch is in the RUN position. |
• | The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure. |
Program the transfer case shift control module using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.
If the transfer case shift control module fails to program, proceed as follows:
• | Ensure that the transfer case shift control module connection is OK. |
• | Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version. |
• | Attempt to program the transfer case shift control module. If the transfer case shift control module still cannot be programmed properly, replace the transfer case shift control module. |
Complete the Transfer Case High/Low Clutch Reset or motor learn process as shown on the scan tool special functions to avoid setting DTCs.
