- Remove the transmission fluid filter and auxiliary fluid pump filter. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Auxiliary Fluid Pump Filter Replacement.
- Remove the transmission electrical connector passage sleeve. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Electrical Connector Passage Sleeve Replacement.
- Remove the transmission wiring harness from the wire harness retainer (2).
- Remove the transmission wiring harness connector (1) from the wire harness retainer.
- Disconnect the transmission wiring harness from the control solenoid valve body (3).
- Remove the control solenoid valve heat sink bolts (1) from the control
solenoid valve and transmission control module (TCM) assembly.
- Remove the wire harness retainer (2).
- Remove the control valve body bolts (3) from the control solenoid valve and TCM assembly.
- Remove the control solenoid valve and TCM assembly (4).
Notice: Use care when handling the control valve body assembly.
If dropped, damage to the control solenoid valve body assembly internal components, including the transmission control module (TCM), may result.
Notice: Discard the channel plate. Replace with a NEW channel plate. Reusing an old channel plate may cause damage to the control solenoid valve assembly.
Important: Use care when removing the channel plate assembly. However, if a retaining tab is broken or missing, DO NOT replace the control solenoid valve assembly. The channel plate assembly can still be adequately aligned.
- Remove the control valve channel plate spacer plate gasket (1).
- Remove the transmission wiring harness assembly (2).
Notice: Use care when handling the control valve body assembly.

- Install the control valve channel plate spacer plate gasket (1).
- Install the transmission wiring harness assembly (2).
- Install the control solenoid valve and TCM assembly (4).
Important: Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
- Install by hand the control valve body bolts (3) to the control solenoid valve and TCM assembly.
- Install the wire harness retainer (2).
Important: Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
- Install by hand the control solenoid valve heat sink bolts (1) to the control solenoid valve and TCM assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Notice: Bolt torque sequencing is critical to the proper function of the control solenoid valve assembly. Failure to follow the required sequencing may result in transmission malfunction.
- Torque the bolts following the specified sequence.
Tighten
Tighten the control valve body bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the control solenoid valve heat sink bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Connect the transmission wiring harness to the control solenoid valve body (3).
- Install the transmission wiring harness connector (1) to the wire harness retainer.
- Install the transmission wiring harness to the wire harness retainer (2).
- Install the transmission electrical connector passage sleeve. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Electrical Connector Passage Sleeve Replacement.
- Install the transmission fluid filter and auxiliary fluid pump filter. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Auxiliary Fluid Pump Filter Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
