Fuel Gauge Reads Backwards After Campaign 05027 - keywords circuit connector damage leak module pump sender sensor wire

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Complaints regarding the fuel gauge operating backwards after completing campaign 05027 have been reported. This concern may be possible if the fuel card/float assembly or fuel pump module assembly was replaced with the wrong part, sometime during the life of the vehicle.

All vehicles involved in campaign 05027 use a fuel pump module assembly where the float arm points to the left of the assembly when looking straight at the sender card side of the assembly. If the wrong fuel card/float assembly or fuel pump module assembly was installed the float arm will be pointing to the right of the assembly.

If you have a float arm pointing to the right, replace the complete fuel pump module assembly. In most cases the correct part number is 25315983, but your parts departments should verify the correct part number for your application. After the correct fuel pump module assembly is obtained complete the campaign on the new part.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
