Fuel Tank Draining Front Tank
Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur
if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel
fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have
a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Loosen the fuel fill cap in order to relieve the fuel tank vapor
pressure.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much
fuel from the rear fuel tank through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen the front tank fuel hose clamp.
- Separate the fuel hose from the front fuel tank.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much
fuel from the front fuel tank through the fuel tank opening as possible.
Fuel Tank Draining Rear Tank
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine
Electrical.
- Remove the fuel fill cap.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much
fuel through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
