When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis
might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Condition/Concern:
DVD-based Navigation system Information
Recommendation/Instructions:
The available onboard DVD-based Navigation system* uses GPS (global positioning
satellite) to pinpoint your vehicle's location. Bright, clear graphics are conveniently
displayed for you on the instrument panel, which takes the place of the regular sound-system
control panel.
The screen features a light-gray background in daylight that automatically switches
to a dark grey background at night for optimum readability. Five dedicated controls
along the left side of the screen control the navigation system. Four switches to
the right of the screen operate the sound system in conjunction with screen-displayed
controls. Information is on a single DVD. No need to swap discs when traveling.
Various navigation features can be personalized for up to three different drivers.
Map displays may be either "north up" or from the driver's perspective with the direction
of "travel up." Vehicles offer voice prompts in two languages -- English and
French. You may select various screen settings, destination locations and route-planning
methods to obtain either turn-by-turn guidance to a destination** or map assistance.
Voice prompts are high-quality recordings that alert you in the turn-by-turn mode.
Thirty memory points can be held in memory for each driver, or a touch point on the
map can identify the desired end of a trip.
Getting started:
This will help the new user become familiar with the navigation radio. Buttons
on the left side of the radio are used to access main menus. Buttons on the right
side of the radio change function depending on the menu chosen. The control pad on
the bottom left is used to select items on the screen. The screen to the right of
the control pad will show what movements are available to the control pad. Pushing
the control pad serves as an enter key.
Setting a station preset:
- Turn the radio on by pressing the "power" VOL button (if not
already on).
- Push the "BAND" button to select a desired band. This will
cycle through AM/FM1/FM2 and if equipped XM1/XM2.
- Use either the control pad or the "seek" rocker to tune to
a station.
- Press and hold one of the 6 buttons on the right hand side of the radio
until you hear a beep or see the station displayed next to the button pushed.

bring you back to a top level menu.

Note that you can stop along the way and return to the vehicle and will still be
in guidance mode.

will allow you to cancel the route.

the map appearance, adjust the volume of the voice prompts, and many other features.

CD changer (if equipped) or a control screen for rear seat entertainment (if equipped).
Note that you cannot play a CD in the internal CD player and have route guidance
at the same time.
- The AUDIO button allows you to adjust balance, fade, bass, treble as well
as the amplifier DSP settings.
- The CONFIG button allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast of
the main screen. You can also override the vehicle selection of day or night screen
mode.

memory points from the NAV menu. Then when you wish to navigate to one of these points
you can select it as a memory point from the destination entry screen.

items that can be displayed by using the control pad.
