The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment on an illuminated MIL Technicians may find DTC P0741 in the TCM as a history or active DTC.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Based on recent engineering analysis reviews one frequent cause of this DTC in 2008 models is chips, sediment, or debris plugging the converter clutch signal orifice cup plug (238) in the pump cover (see figure attached). This debris can block converter
feed oil that is normally used to move the converter clutch valve (224) and apply the TCC. Disassemble the pump, clean the converter clutch signal orifice cup plug (238) in the cover and clean the facing area of the pump body. Also, verify free movement of
the converter clutch valve (224).
When diagnosing this DTC it is important to also refer to SI diagnostics for DTC P0741 for other possible causes of this DTC.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
