The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A dealer may encounter a customer concern of a intermittent SES/MIL light coming on with DTC P1133 or P1153 found.

Engineering is interested in vehicles setting these dtcs.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Complete the current SI diagnostics for any trouble codes or symptoms found. If basic diagnostics for DTCs P1133/P1153 are inconclusive, Engineering is interested in speaking directly with the dealer. There are a few questions Engineering would like to answer during the call.

  1. What type of driving was the customer doing when the check engine light came on (driving 35mph in the city, 70mph on the highway).
  2. Short trip to town vs long trip with trailers.
  3. Did they recently fill the vehicle with fuel.
  4. Do they know of any repeat set of conditions that seems to turn on the SES light.
