Fuel Tank Draining Pickup

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  4. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel filler pipe as possible.

Fuel Tank Draining Utility with Single Tank

  3. Loosen the fuel filler cap in order to relieve the fuel tank vapor pressure.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Loosen the fuel fill hose clamp (2).
  6. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel fill pipe.
  7. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel fill hose as possible.

Fuel Tank Draining Utility with Dual Tanks - Rear Tank

    Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  5. Loosen the rear tank to front tank fuel fill hose clamp (1).
  6. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (2) from the front fuel tank.
  7. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the front fuel tank through the fuel fill hose nipple as possible.
