Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle Floor shift Export


    Object Number: 389651  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Attach the steering column support assembly (2) to the steering column jacket assembly (3) with 4 new TORX® head screws (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 TORX® head screws to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the steering shaft assembly (1) into the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  4. Object Number: 343881  Size: SH
  5. Install the adapter and bearing assembly (1) onto the steering column jacket assembly.
  6. 3.1. Align the tab on the adapter and bearing assembly (1) with the slot in the steering column jacket assembly.
    3.2. Push the adapter and bearing assembly (1) onto the steering shaft assembly until the tab snaps into the slot.

    Important: The electrical contact of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2) must rest on the turn signal cancel cam assembly.

  7. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2) onto the steering column housing assembly.
  8. Screw the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) into the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  10. Install the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 TORX® screws to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the steering shaft assembly (1) into the steering column support assembly (2).

  4. Object Number: 343881  Size: SH
  5. Install the adapter and bearing assembly (1) onto the steering column jacket assembly.

  6. Object Number: 662202  Size: SH
  7. Install the linear shift assembly onto the steering column support assembly.
  8. Secure the linear shift assembly to the steering column support assembly with 3 flat head tapping screws.
  9. Move the linear shift assembly out of the PARK position to install the lower socket tapping screw.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 3 flat head tapping screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Important: Be sure that the electrical contact of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2) rests on the turn signal cancel cam assembly.

  10. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly onto the steering column housing assembly.
  11. Screw the 2 pan head tapping screws into the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  13. Install the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
