Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
2. Turn the courtesy lamps on.

Do the courtesy lamps function properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy or Dome Lamps Inoperative

1. Turn the cargo lamp switch to the on position.
2. Disconnect the cargo lamp.
3. Connect a test lamp between the inadvertent power relay output circuit and to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 9

1. Ensure the cargo lamp switch is in the on position.
2. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp feed circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 13

Go to Step 7

1. Turn OFF the ignition
2. Reconnect all previously disconnected components.
3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
4. Ensure the cargo lamp switch is in the on position.
5. Using a scan tool, Scan Tool , read the cargo lamp switch status in body controller.

Does the scan tool display switch closed (On)?

Go to Step 15

Go to Step 12

1. Disconnect the cargo lamp switch.
2. Connect a fuse jumper wire between the courtesy lamp feed circuit and the switch ground circuit of the switch connector.
3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp feed circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit at the cargo lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 8

Connect a test lamp between the switch ground circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 11

Repair the open in the inadvertent power relay output circuit between relay and lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the courtesy lamp feed circuit.

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the switch ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the courtesy lamp feed circuit between the body control module (BCM) and body wiring harness junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. If no open circuit is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

Replace the cargo lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Replace the cargo lamp switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
