Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the courtesy lamps on and off.

Do the courtesy lamps function properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy or Dome Lamps Inoperative or Courtesy or Dome Lamps Always On

Turn the cargo lamp switch to the off position.

Does the cargo lamp turn off?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 5

Disconnect the cargo lamp switch.

Does the cargo lamp turn off?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect all previously disconnected components.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  4. Ensure the cargo lamp switch is in the on position.
  5. Using a scan tool, read the cargo lamp switch status in body controller.

Does the scan tool display switch closed (On)?

Go to Step 10

Repair the short to ground in the courtesy lamp feed circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the courtesy lamp feed circuit between the body control module (BCM) and the body wiring harness junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the cargo lamp switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
