Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Remove the combs for the instrument cluster connector. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  3. Backprobe the instrument cluster connector with a digital multimeter (DMM) and measure the voltage between the ignition 1 voltage circuit and a good ground with the instrument cluster connected. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  4. Compare the DC voltage reading displayed on the DMM and the voltmeter reading displayed on the instrument cluster.

Does the volt gauge on the instrument cluster and the DMM display approximately agree?

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
