Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 3

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the headlamps (high beams) function properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Low and High Beams Headlamps Inoperative

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the head position.
  3. Switch to high beams.
  4. With the scan tool, read the high beam switch status under the BCM.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the instrument cluster or the lamp as necessary.

Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement or Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

  1. Repair the open in the head lamp dimmer switch output-high circuit between the BCM and switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
