Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Roll down the windows.
  3. Close all of the doors.
  4. Connect a scan tool.
  5. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  6. Using the scan tool, inspect for any DTCs in the body control module (BCM).

Does the scan tool show any DTCs?

Connect a test lamp (back probe) from the fused battery feed at the inoperative switch to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Locate and repair the open in fused battery feed between the fuse and the switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Depress the inoperative switch to the unlock position.

Do the doors unlock?

  1. Connect a test lamp (back probe) from the power door unlock relay feed to ground.
  2. While probing, depress the switch to the unlock position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in the power door unlock relay feed between switch and the BCM. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative switch.

  1. Connect a test lamp (back probe) from power door lock relay feed to ground.
  2. While probing, depress the switch to the lock position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in power door lock relay feed between the switch and the lock relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
