Subject: | Service VME - Noise in the Windshield Area and/or at the Right-Center of Instrument Panel |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
If a high frequency, vibrating noise is detected in the lower windshield area and/or at the right-center section of the instrument panel and may also be quite intermittent in nature, one possible cause could be the heater core. As this condition is very difficult to diagnose, you may be able to verify it by connecting a set of chassis ears to the heater core outlet pipes. Prior to model year 2003, there were 3 wires wrapped around the heater core. The wires can vibrate and generate noise. If this condition is suspected, simply remove the wires from the core. They were used as an assembly aid only.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
