Seat Belt Buckle and Latch Replacement - No. 2 Rear Tahoe/Yukon

Caution: To avoid personal injury to the occupants of the vehicle, observe the following precautions:

   • More than one supplier's seat belts are used, therefore, install ONLY the seat belt components specified in the GM parts catalog.
   • To verify that the correct seat belt components were installed, insert the seat belt latch in the seat belt buckle. The latch must be fully seated and be retained in the buckle until purposely released.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement or Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the lower anchor bolt from bodyside panel.
  3. Remove the third pillar trim panel. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Route the belt through trim panel.

  6. Remove the bolt from the upper guide.
  7. Remove the bolt from the retractor.
  8. Remove the seatbelt anchor bolt cover.
  9. Remove the floor anchor bolt.
  10. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the assembly to vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolt to the retractor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  5. Install the bolt to the upper guide.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  7. Route the belt through trim panel.
  8. Install the third pillar trim panel. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement in Interior Trim.
  9. Install the lower anchor bolt to bodyside panel.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  11. Install the floor anchor bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  13. Install the seat belt anchor bolt cover.
  14. Install the door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement or Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.

  10. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.

  7. Snap lower guide into place.
  8. Route the belt through trim panel.
  9. Install the third pillar trim panel. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement in Interior Trim.
  10. Install the floor anchor bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  12. Install the seat belt anchor bolt cover.
  13. Install the door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement or Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
