Subject: | Service VME - Inaccurate Inside Rear Mirror Temperature Reading - compass display electrical erratic inaccurate operation |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Some customers may note that the temperature reading on their inside rearview mirror may be inaccurate. This situation can occur especially when the vehicle is moved from a cold environment to a warm environment as the mirror will only adjust the temperature display one degree every two minutes until the 16th minute. These mirrors have an algorithm to compensate for elevated under hood temperatures during traffic stops, or long idle periods. The mirror and/or the air temperature sensor should not be replaced under these conditions before each component is tested. Refer to SI ( Document number 857013 ) for acceptable resistance ranges for the ambient air temp sensor.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
