Service VME - Replacement (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative

.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

This involves the 2003 and 2004 Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac full-size CK pick-up and utility trucks and the H2 Hummer with the remote keyless entry, RKE feature. Replacement key fobs under part number 15186203 may not synchronize with the truck after following the procedure highlighted in the SI document number 660745. The key fob software may be set in a new mode which can cause a lack of synchronization. To exit the new mode, hold the unlock and panic alarm buttons simultaneously for ten seconds. This will place the key fob software in a learnable mode for individual truck synchronization. Next, complete the synchronization process as per the SI document. Do not dispose or return the inoperative key fobs until this procedure has been first attempted. This message is intended for all Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Hummer enrolled dealers.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
