When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
SERVICE VME
Some customers may comment that their front windshield wiper arm does not remain upright (Service Up) position as it did on prior models and as a result, customer may inadvertently brake the wiper arm trying to extend the blade. Beginning with the 2003 model year, Chevrolet and GMC full size pickups and utilities eliminated the service up feature to avoid crashing the wiper arm into the rear hood hem flange which could result in paint chipping. Further changes were made to limit wiper arm breakage by improving the retainer clip ( C bow ) that went into production in September, 2003 and a new positive stop feature that went into production in January, 2004. For GMC only, customers who desire the Service Up feature, it is possible to replace the current wiper arm with the old P/Ns 15761496-97. Chevrolet models cannot utilize the old wiper arms due to the new hood design in 2003.
